Ceramic Sand Coating

Limeijia Ceramic Sand Coating is an coating for interior and exterior walls. Its main materials are high hardness quartz sand and white marble sand. The sand is dyed by inorganic color masterbatch and calcined at high temperatures of 1000-2000°C to be the calcined sand. So the coating is vibrant in color and exhibits excellent color stability with no fading. Also it has extremely strong weather resistance and a long lifespan like ceramic. The hollow yet flexible structure of the calcined sand creates a dense and elastic coating surface that can absorb moisture. As a result, indoor environments using ceramic sand coating remain dry even during humid weather. The dense coating can also cover fine cracks in the wall. The metal crystals formed by calcined sand make the coating have a metallic glittering luster on its own, which is more beautiful and artistic. This dual-purpose coating is suitable for both troweling and spraying applications, easy to apply and repair, has a strong sense of layering and good decorative properties, making it ideal for use on various interior and exterior wall surfaces, as well as for refurbishing and renovating walls.

Product Introduction

Ceramic Sand Coating sample

Both interior and exterior walls can use (fine sand, medium sand, and coarse sand)

For interior walls, (ultra-fine sand) is used

Features of Ceramic Sand Coating

  1. The coating can purify the indoor air and make it environmentally friendly.
  2. The calcined ceramic sand has a smooth and uniform appearance, vibrant colors, and excellent color stability with no fading, resulting in a scratch- and scrub-resistant coating.
  3. The coating has outstanding weather resistance, withstanding high and low temperatures, acid and alkali corrosion, mold, and moisture. It also exhibits excellent water resistance and moisture absorption.
  4. The coating offers high coverage, features an elastic layer that does not crack, and restores walls to their original appearance.
  5. The texture is fine and tactile, offering a three-dimensional decorative effect.
  6. Easy to apply, repair, and renovate.

Applications of Ceramic Sand Coating

The product is available in two formulations: one for interior walls and one for exterior walls. The interior wall ceramic sand coating uses a low-odor formula, while the exterior wall ceramic sand coating employs a weather-resistant formula.

The product is widely used for the decoration and protection of exterior walls of various buildings, including villas, residences, guesthouses, hotels, schools, hospitals, museums, art galleries, libraries, concert halls, sports centers, office buildings, commercial plazas, industrial parks, factory workshops, stations, and national infrastructure projects.

Application of Ceramic Sand Coating

Wall Inspection and Environmental Requirements Before Application

  • The wall to be coated should already have a putty layer applied, with a firm, clean surface that is free of cracks, peeling, dust, hollowing, lime bursts, poorly adhered old coatings, and oil stains. The wall moisture content should be less than 5%.
  • The ambient temperature should be above 8°C, with a relative humidity below 75% RH.

Standard Application Steps

  1. Roll/spray primer (one coat).
  2. Roll/spray background coating (one coat) (optional).
  3. Evenly trowel ceramic sand coating (two coats).
  4. When the coating surface is semi-dry, use a burnishing knife to flatten and smooth it (one pass).
  5. For interior walls, perform an additional step: hand-sand with sandpaper to achieve a fine and smooth finish.
  6. Roll/spray finish coat varnish (one coat).

Precautions During Application

  1. Before large-scale application, test-coat 1-2㎡ on the wall to confirm that the color and effect match the standard sample before proceeding.
  1. For large-scale applications, perform line divisions and use suspended platforms for construction to avoid pole marks caused by scaffolding.
  1. It is recommended that the same batch of coating be applied by the same team of workers on the same wall to ensure consistent surface effects and avoid uneven finishes.
  1. Stir the product thoroughly before use. Apply using a trowel or a Natural stone coating spray gun. This product does not require dilution.
  1. Application is strictly prohibited when the ambient temperature is below 8°C, the relative humidity exceeds 70% RH, or during rainy, foggy, or windy weather, as this will affect the formation of the coating.
  1. During breaks or after application, seal any unused coating tightly to prevent it from drying out in the barrel. Clean tools and clothing promptly; otherwise, dried coating will be difficult to remove.
  1. It is recommended to reserve 3-5 barrels of material for future maintenance.

Coating Drying Time – (Under Conditions of Above 8°C and Relative Humidity Below 70% RH)

Primer: Drying time is at least 4 hours. Apply the background coating or ceramic sand coating only after the primer is completely dry.

Background Coating: Drying time is at least 4 hours. Apply the ceramic sand coating only after the background coating is completely dry.

Ceramic Sand Coating: Full drying time is at least 72 hours. For recoating, wait at least 24 hours. Apply the topcoat only after the ceramic sand layer is completely dry.

Finish coat: Drying time is 2 hours.

After application, the wall requires a natural curing period of 7 days.
